Our Roadmap

From founding to field impact — the milestones that mark our journey toward lasting conservation.

2020
Foundation

Organization Established

Natural Fish Breeding was founded to coordinate fish conservation and breeding programs across Mongolia's most critical river basins, uniting regional efforts under one mission.

2021
Policy

Fishing Regulation Reform

Our advocacy contributed to national regulation changes protecting taimen during spawning season, establishing the legal basis for no-take zones now enforced across our river basins.

2022
Habitat

Riparian Restoration Launched

Our restoration initiative began rehabilitating riverbank habitat, reducing erosion and improving vegetation cover critical for fish spawning across key stretches.

2023
Community

Guardian Network Launched

The Community Guardian Program recruited its first 20 certified herder-conservationists to actively monitor waterways — building one of the first community-led river monitoring networks in the region.

2024
Species Recovery

Taimen Population Stabilization

Surveys recorded the first measurable rebound in Hucho taimen numbers across key river stretches — a direct result of no-take zones and community guardianship.

2025
Water Quality

Monitoring Stations Operational

Water quality assessments across 2 monitoring stations show improvements in dissolved oxygen levels and turbidity since our watershed restoration efforts began.

2026
Looking Ahead

Expanding Our Reach

Scaling community guardian networks, establishing new monitoring stations, and deepening partnerships with Chuluut Tul and Ilenkh to protect more of Mongolia's river ecosystems.

"The river remembers everything. Our job is to make sure it remembers health, not loss."

— Dr. Nominchimeg Gantulga, Founding Director
